For tap water in Yamanashi Prefecture, the highest combined PFOS and PFOA value in FY2020–FY2025 (FY2025 through the end of August) was 21 ng/L for the Hokuto City (北杜市) water and sewerage supplier in FY2024. This value was measured only in raw water (before treatment); the FY2025 value was 13. No supplier exceeded 50 ng/L.

These are the highest values in each fiscal year reported by each utility to the national government (MLIT and the Ministry of the Environment). A utility with several sources or treatment plants can have different levels in different parts of its area. Samples are taken at the tap in principle, but some utilities only measured raw water (water before treatment), and raw-water values are not covered by the tap-water standard. nd = below the detection or quantification limit; — = no value reported. *FY2025 covers results up to the end of August 2025. Utility names are left in Japanese as in the official table.

Good to know
- Hokuto’s 21 ng/L comes from a supplier whose testing point is “raw water only” in the table published in 2024. It is not a measurement of the water that comes out of the tap. Of the 136 rows for the prefecture, 14 are “raw water only.”
- In FY2024, 78 of the 80 rows with a value were nd (below the quantification limit). The Kofu City Water and Sewerage Bureau (甲府市上下水道局) and two bulk water suppliers (which sell water to municipalities), the Kyōhoku (峡北) and Kyōtō (峡東) water supply authorities, were nd in all six years. In FY2025, 37 rows say “to be tested within the fiscal year,” and no value is listed yet.
- Among private water supplies (for a facility, such as company housing or hospitals), none of the 28 tested in the prefecture was found to exceed the provisional target value (50 ng/L) (through the end of August 2025).

This calculation shows how the same intake reads differently against different yardsticks; it does not judge health effects.
