In Japan
- An antifungal agent used to prevent mold on fruit and potatoes after harvest. The standards for use set the foods it can be used in and the upper limits.
- Antifungal agents must be written together with the purpose name, as in “防かび剤(フルジオキソニル)” (antifungal agent (fludioxonil)). It is also among the additives for which sellers are guided to display a notice that it was used, even for loose sales not in packaging (Attachment, Additive 1-6).
Japan's standards for use
- Kiwifruit, pineapple (excluding the crown): 0.020 g/kg
- Citrus fruits (excluding mandarin oranges (mikan)): 0.010 g/kg
- Potatoes: 0.0060 g/kg
- Avocados, apricots, cherries (ōtō), plums, nectarines, mangoes, peaches (all excluding the seed): 0.0050 g/kg
- Pomegranates, European pears, papayas, loquats, quinces, apples: 0.0050 g/kg

In the EU
- It is not on the EU list of food additives (Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008, Annex II), so it cannot be used as a food additive in the EU.
- It is not on the EU list of food additives. In the EU it is treated as a pesticide (an active substance of plant protection products), and the amounts allowed to remain in food are set by maximum residue limits (Regulation 396/2005).
When it is labeled under a shared name
Fludioxonil may be declared on the label in the same way as “防かび剤(OPP・TBZ・イマザリルなど)”. See Post-harvest fungicides (OPP, TBZ, imazalil etc.) for details.
