This product contains sulforaphane glucosinolate. It has been reported that taking 24 mg/day of sulforaphane glucosinolate has the function of supporting a decrease in slightly high blood ALT levels (one indicator of liver health) within the healthy range in healthy middle-aged and older people, and that taking 30 mg/day has the function of supporting an improvement in processing ability (the ability to process visual information quickly and perform tasks quickly and accurately), a part of cognitive function that declines with age in older people. Eating one bag (90 g) of this product provides 60% of the daily amount of the functional ingredient reported for lowering blood ALT levels, and 50% of the daily amount of the functional ingredient reported for improving processing ability.

In the EU: the register of health claims

Claim not authorised in the EU

  • The "protects cells from oxidative damage" and "immune" claims for cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli were not authorised (2010 and 2011 opinions).

In the EU, only health claims whose evidence has been assessed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and authorised by the European Commission may be used on food. “Not authorised” means the evidence for that claim was not established under EU standards — not that the ingredient is dangerous.
