Source and production
Obtained from the fruit of the wax tree (hazenoki). The main component is glyceryl palmitate.

In Japan

  • A wax obtained from the fruit of the wax tree (hazenoki), used as the base of chewing gum (gum base). There are no standards for use.
  • When used as gum base, it can be labeled with the group name “ガムベース” (gum base). When labeled by substance name, the short name is “植物ワックス” (vegetable wax) and the alternative names are “日本ロウ” (Japan wax) and “ハゼ脂” (haze fat).
