In Japan

  • A designated additive used as a flavoring substance, designated as a class (group) rather than as individual substances. Under the standards for use, it cannot be used for any purpose other than flavoring.
  • It falls within the group name range for flavorings, and the food label can show just “香料” (flavoring) (CAA, annex to the “Notes on the Food Labeling Standards”).
