- No matter how many aroma components are used, they can be written as just “香料” (flavoring) (a group name).
- Flavorings taken from natural materials and synthetic flavorings are both labeled with the same “香料” (flavoring).

- The EU also allows the group label “flavouring.” At the same time, the EU flavoring regulation (1334/2008) prohibits adding some substances, such as coumarin and safrole, directly to food, and sets maximum levels in food.
