In Japan

  • An antioxidant extracted from rice bran oil, with ferulic acid and its esters as the main components. The specifications require at least 60% ferulic acid on a dry-matter basis (Japanese Standards of Food Additives). There are no standards for use.
  • Antioxidants are a purpose for which the purpose name must be written alongside, as in “酸化防止剤(コメヌカ油抽出物)” (antioxidant (rice bran oil extract)). Another name is “コメヌカ油不けん化物” (rice bran oil unsaponifiable matter).
