Source and production
A substance whose essence is ferulic acid. Source, manufacturing method, and essence follow the specifications in the Japanese Standards for Food Additives.

In Japan

  • An antioxidant used to prevent oxidation.
  • Antioxidants are a purpose for which the purpose name must be written alongside, so it is labeled like “酸化防止剤(フェルラ酸)” (antioxidant (ferulic acid)).
  • “γ-オリザノール” (γ-oryzanol), another existing food additive, has esters of ferulic acid obtained from rice bran and germ oil as its main component and is a separate item from ferulic acid.
