Source and production
Obtained from the seeds of American grape or grape. The main component is proanthocyanidin.

In Japan

  • An additive obtained from grape seeds with proanthocyanidin as its main component, used as an antioxidant and as a processing agent. There are no standards for use.
  • When used as an antioxidant, the purpose name must be written alongside, as in “酸化防止剤(ブドウ種子抽出物)” (antioxidant (grape seed extract)). The short name is “プロアントシアニジン” (proanthocyanidin).
