In Japan

  • Used during food production to adsorb and separate components. The standards for use require that it be removed before the final food is completed.
  • For the existing food additives ε-polylysine and lactoperoxidase, the description of the manufacturing method says they are obtained “using an ion exchange resin” (CAA, Food Labeling Standards explanatory notice, Annex, Additives 2-1).
  • Substances removed before the food is completed qualify as “processing aids” (加工助剤) under the Food Labeling Standards, and labeling may be omitted.
