In Japan
- Under the standards for use, it can be used only in foods not in ordinary food form, such as capsules and tablets, and in tablet confectionery.
- When written by substance name, the short name “ステアリン酸Mg” (magnesium stearate) can be used. When used together with calcium stearate, the two can be written together as “ステアリン酸塩(Ca,Mg)” (stearates (Ca, Mg)).
