Source and production
Obtained by extracting, with water, the ash made by burning brown algae. The main component is potassium iodide.

  • Obtained by extracting with water the ash made by burning brown algae; the main component is potassium iodide. On the List of Existing Food Additives, its purpose is processing agent.
  • There are no standards for use. It is labeled by the substance name “海藻灰抽出物” (seaweed ash extract), and labeling is exempt when it counts as a processing aid, for example because it is removed during manufacturing.
