Source and production
Obtained by defatting and roasting rice bran, extracting it with hot water, and then removing proteins with warm ethanol. Contains maltol as a component.

In Japan

  • Obtained by extracting defatted, roasted rice bran with water, with maltol as the main component. On the List of Existing Food Additives, its purpose is processing agent. There are no standards for use.
  • When it counts as a processing aid (one that is removed before the food is completed, or that hardly remains in the final food and has no effect there), labeling is exempt (the Food Labeling Standards).
