In Japan
- Used as a fortifier that supplements calcium and as a manufacturing agent in food production processes. Under the standards for use, it can be used only where essential to manufacturing or processing and for nutritional purposes, and the amount is up to 1.0% of the food as calcium (excluding foods bearing special dietary use labeling).
- It is included among additives that may be used for nutrient fortification (minerals), and labeling is exempt when it is used for that purpose. The simplified name when written by substance name is “水酸化Ca” (Ca hydroxide).
