In Japan

  • Used to add iron. It is included among the additives that may be used for nutritional fortification (minerals).
  • No short name has been set; it is written “クエン酸鉄” (iron citrate). It is a separate item from sodium ferrous citrate (short name “クエン酸鉄Na”) and ferric ammonium citrate.
  • When used for nutritional fortification, it may be omitted from the ingredient list (except for foods for special dietary uses and foods with function claims).
