In Japan

  • A fortifier that supplements calcium. Under the standards for use, it cannot be used for any purpose other than nutrition.
  • It is within the range of “additives that may be used for nutrient fortification” (minerals), and labeling is exempt when it is used for that purpose. The simplified name when written by substance name is “グルコン酸Ca” (Ca gluconate).

Japan's standards for use

  • Up to 1.0% of the food as calcium (excluding foods bearing special dietary use labeling).
  • Must not be used for any purpose other than nutrition.
