In Japan

  • One of the magnesium salts of phosphoric acid. No standards for use have been set.
  • It falls within the scope of the group name “イーストフード” (yeast food), and if used for that purpose it can be written as “イーストフード” (yeast food). The short names when written by substance name are “リン酸マグネシウム” (magnesium phosphate) and “リン酸Mg” (Mg phosphate).
  • It is also within the scope of additives that may be used for nutritional fortification, and when used for that purpose, labeling is exempt.

  • In its 2019 evaluation, EFSA (the European Food Safety Authority) set an ADI (acceptable daily intake) of 40mg per kg of body weight per day (a group ADI, for the total of related substances) (EFSA FAF).

When it is labeled under a shared name
