In Japan

  • One of the iron salts, used to add iron to foods (nutritional fortification). There are no standards for use (rules on which foods it may be used in or how much).
  • When used for nutritional fortification, labeling may, in principle, be omitted. When written by substance name, its short name is “塩化鉄” (iron chloride) (CAA, Annex to the Food Labeling Standards explanatory notice).
