In Japan

  • An iron salt, used to add iron to food (nutrient fortification). There are no standards for use (rules on permitted foods and amounts).
  • When used for nutrient fortification, labeling can in principle be omitted. The simplified name when written by substance name is “硫酸鉄” (iron sulfate) (the CAA's “食品表示基準について” (Notes on the Food Labeling Standards), Attachment).
