Flour made by grinding rice or beans. On this site, it is used as the thickener in a curry roux made without wheat flour.

Labeling rules
- The ingredient with the largest weight (the first one in the list) must show a place of origin. For a processed product like rice flour, the label either gives the place of processing as “国内製造” (made in Japan), or instead gives the origin of the raw rice, as in “米粉（米（国産））” (rice flour (rice (domestic))) (Food Labeling Standards, Article 3).
- Rice and chickpeas are not on the list of allergen items (the “特定原材料” (allergens that must be labeled) and the “特定原材料に準ずるもの” (allergens recommended for labeling)).
Good to know
- The rice flour curry (mild) from Cosmo Foods says “米粉（米（国産））” (rice flour (rice (domestic))). In the same series, the medium-hot one has no origin on the label because rice flour is not the first ingredient (the official page describes it as 100% domestic rice flour).
- In the Standard Tables of Food Composition in Japan (8th revised edition, 2023 supplement), rice flour has 356 kcal and 6.0 g of protein per 100 g. Chickpeas (whole, dried) have 336 kcal and 20.0 g of protein.
