Source and production
Obtained from the exudate of acacia; the main component is polysaccharides. Its source, manufacturing method, and nature follow the component specifications in Japan's Specifications and Standards for Food Additives (“食品添加物公定書”).

In Japan

  • A polysaccharide obtained from the exudate of the acacia tree, used as a thickening stabilizer.
  • When used as a thickener, stabilizer, etc., the purpose name must be shown alongside. Another name is “アカシアガム” (acacia gum), and the simplified name is “アカシア” (acacia).
  • When two or more polysaccharides classed as thickening stabilizers are used, they can be labeled together as “増粘多糖類” (thickening polysaccharides).
