In Japan

  • No matter how many are used, they can be written as just “乳化剤” (emulsifier) (a group name).
  • This includes natural ones such as lecithin, which is taken from soybeans or eggs.

  • In the EU, a label with only the purpose name is not allowed. The substance name or E number must be written, for example “emulsifier (lecithin)” or “emulsifier (E322)”, so you can tell what was used (EU Regulation 1169/2011).
